Dr. Robert L. Baynham, Pastor
Dr. Baynham is a native of Kansas City, Missouri.  He is a graduate of the R. T. Cole Vocational High School.  He attended Western Baptist Bible College and received his AA from Allan County Community College.  He received a BA from Ottawa University and a Master of Divinity degree from Central Baptist Seminary.  He later received his Doctorate of Religious Education from the University of Central America, Kansas City, Missouri.
Pastor Baynham entered the ministry on November 13, 1955.  He has shepherded the following churches as pastor:  Second Baptist Church in Iola , KS (12 years); Poplar Grove in Humboldt, KS (9 years); Independent Baptist Church in Leavenworth, KS (10 years); and Metropolitan Baptist Church, in Kansas City, Kansas since 1982.  
Dr. Baynham has been affiliated with many organizations, and has held many offices and posts over the years.  These  include former Dean of the Congress of Christian Education of Kansas; former moderator of the Northeastern District Association; and lecturer and moderator of the Auxiliary of the Missionary Baptist State Convention of Kansas.  One of his most cherished ministries is Camp Ascension in Toronto, Kansas where he served as Director for more than 30 years.  He is the former President of the Congress of Christian Education for the Missionary Baptist State Convention of Kansas.  Dr. Baynham currently serves as the Supervisor of the Theology Department for the National Congress of Christian Education, an Auxiliary of the National Baptist Convention, USA Inc., and Dean of Western Baptist Bible College in Kansas City, Missouri.  
Dr. Baynham has been committed to developing and implementing "The Teaching church," which is a concept that is taking a stance at Metropolitan.  Through the leadership of Dr. Baynham, we were able to make a dream become reality after dedicating our Educational Building in October of 1990.  This facility was designed to teach and expand our knowledge.  Dr. Baynham is a consummate teacher who leads his congregation in worshiping God, teaching the Word, and winning the lost.
